Purpose of the Role
To implement developmentally appropriate care and engagement for children and families in the aim of fulfilling our mission of seeing waves of people transformed by the love of God.
Job Responsibilities

Maintain a well-developed and professional classroom that is compliant with Paths to Quality (PTQ) and also with the lenses of child, tour, state and ministry.
Attending monthly staff meetings and other mission-related meetings, trainings and events.
Create lesson plans, environments and supervise assistant teachers
Complete daily cleaning checklists and closing checklists.
Maintain environments conducive to learning and exploration.
Supervise assistant teachers and children during the workday.
Maintain communication with parents about their classrooms through e-mails, newsletters, dailies and verbal communications.
Monitor children’s progress by documenting learning experiences and collecting portfolio entries.
Be prepared to answer questions concerning classroom purposes, curriculum themes, age-appropriate developmental milestones, and classroom schedules.
Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean environment according to instructions.
Report to parents any accidents, incidents, health concerns and transitions involving their child through accident/incident reports, phone calls, and/or face-to-face communication.
Offer opportunities for families to be involved in their child’s learning experience.
Know and follow Adventure Station/STEAM Academy policy and procedure.
Maintain the privacy of each family by complying with the Adventure Station/STEAM Academy ‘standards of confidentiality’.
Be responsible for instructing Assistants and Substitutes on classroom etiquette, PTQ, and policies and procedures of the classroom and the site.
Know and help maintain adherences for all policies and procedures.
Maintain the highest level of professionalism.
Requirements
Conduct oneself in a professional manner of excellence, while infusing the love of Christ into interaction with children, colleagues, families, and the local community.
Comply with program components, policies, and guidelines for the purpose of maintaining compliance with Paths to Quality and Registered Ministry standards.
Participate in workshops, meetings, community events, etc. to obtain a minimum of 20 training hours annually to meet Paths to Quality requirements.
Coordinate with other staff and leadership for planning and assessment purposes.
Monitor child behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and positive environment. Use appropriate behavior guidelines and problem-solving techniques with children as provided in the company discipline policy

STEAM Academy is an Indiana Paths to Quality Level 3 Registered Ministry childcare center with 4 locations in the Greater Lafayette area. We are looking for creative, flexible, and professional individuals to be a part of our team.
