Toddlers
Toddlers are innately curious, discovering and learning through play. Our program encourages exploration, sensory play, and problem-solving through age-appropriate science, technology, engineering, and math activities. From stacking blocks to water play, your child will develop early skills in spatial awareness, patterns, and cause-and-effect.
Early Learning Goals
Science,
Technology & Engineering
Toddlers are noticing cause-and-effect as they solve simple problems and begin using simple tools. They observe and describe living things, the outdoors, and their growing bodies.
Language
Toddlers are learning to associate words with pictures, gestures, as they begin following simple instructions, learn to take turns in conversation, and engage with books in meaningful ways. We provide a variety of writing tools, materials, and surfaces where simple scribbles soon become intentional lines and shapes.
Arts
Children are frequently moving, dancing, and singing along with music. They are given a variety of artistic media experiment and express their creativity. Toddlers use their imaginations as they mimic everyday tasks.
Social & Emotional Wellbeing
Classroom routines and celebrations provide opportunity for toddlers to develop a sense of belonging and parallel play with peers. They are becoming familiar with important people and places, learning to distinguish themselves from others, and beginning to use words to express feelings.
Math
Our teachers support toddlers in learning to sort, organize, classify objects, and recognize patterns. Toddlers begin to grasp concepts of "more" and "some" and "none" through play and meal times as they also learn basic concepts of counting.
Physical Development
Our toddlers try a wide variety of healthy foods at meal and snack times. They are given opportunities to develop gross motor skills on our outdoor playground, indoor playplace, and carefully monitored rock wall at select locations.
